Musical Biography of Frank Sinatra will be the next entry in the program of the 5th edition of LFO. The show produced on 25 June on the stage of Oświęcimskie Centrum Kultury (Oświęcim Culture Center) will involve, among others, Orkiestra Akademii Beethovenowskiej (The Beethoven Academy Orchestra) – the youngest, and one of the best symphonic bands in Poland.
This engrossing musical spectacle stemming from the fascination of the life and output of the legendary American singer and actor Frank Sinatra, embraces an extraordinary list of performers.
Beside the aforementioned Orchestra, there will perform: a jazz band, vocalists, actors, dancers, and a choir. We will be transported to Las Vegas of the 1950s and 1960s, where jazz and swing were kings, and a singer might achieve the summit of his artistic career.
There will be no shortage of film soundtracks, which will introduce us to the intriguing, never-fully-verified, connections of the singer with Sicilian mob. We will hear the most popular songs, such as My Way, New York, New York, Strangers in the Night, embroidered by impressive arrangements involving over a hundred artists. The concept, production, conductorship, and artistic management of the show are supervised by Piotr Adam Nowak.
For decades Frank Sinatra had been one of the most distinguished figures on the American map of entertainment. His life was stunning career, popularity, money, and the most beautiful women of Hollywood. The source of this undisputed master’s vocal inspiration we can trace to his Sicilian roots and Italian tunes, as we listen to the classic pieces derived from V. Bellini’s, G. Puccini’s, and R. Leoncavallo’s operas.
Orkiestra Akademii Beethovenowskiej (The Beethoven Academy Orchestra) is a much awarded, set up by passionate people – the most outstanding students and graduates of European music schools – the youngest symphonic band in Poland. They started performing in 2003. Two years later, due to Elżbieta Penderecka, they appeared at the IX Easter Ludwig van Beethoven Festival in Warsaw, garnering enthusiastic reviews, and receiving many invitations to take part in prestigious festivals home and abroad. Thus far, the Orchestra has recorded 16 records, employing high music scores, as well as popular music and classic film themes.
The high class of OAB has been verified by cooperation with the greatest representatives of conductorial art, composers, and soloists, among them being: Krzysztof Penderecki, Wolfgang Seelinger, Cristiano Vasquez, Małgorzata Walewska, Konstantin Scherbakov, and Jacek Kaspszyk – who has been the chief conductor of the orchestra since 2013.
